Re lifelines; Use UN-COATED wire. Much easier to inspect and looks good IMHO. You can add foam covers near the cockpit if you want.

Hello Emily,
I just bought a 1978 Lancer 25 (with a 5hp Nissan outboard, not a diesel) a couple days ago, and had it delivered to one of the local marinas here in Alameda (CA) on its trailer yesterday. One of the first things I did once I got home from tucking the boat in to its dry storage space is to look for any other Lancer 25 owner stories on the web. Yours is the first I've found and today I finished reading all of your entries. It's already educational for me, since I know almost nothing about Lancer sailboats, having never even heard of them before this last week. And great fun to read your accounts. Today, my wife and daughters (5 & 7 years old) drove by the marina (its raining, so we didn't do more) to take their first look at our new (old) sailboat. (We had a Macgregor 26X back in Missouri for about 7 years, so this won't be our first sailboat.) The kids have been busy coming up with potential names for the boat today. Their lists now total over 30 suggestions. Some of them include: Sparkle, Sweetie Pie and Pretty Ruby! I'll look forward to seeing more accounts posted on your blog! Good luck!

Hi Emily

Welcome back (see people do check). The one good thing about a blog crashing is that you can build it back bigger and better.
