It’s time to head back home and leave the boat behind, tomorrow is my actual birthday and I am really looking forward to spending it with Darin … but part of me is sad to leave my first boat.
The guys made a slight dent in tracking down the existing wiring and tagging it, they ran across a leaky packing box which diverted their attention. When they went to tighten it the rubber casing cracked and they spent most of the time yesterday repairing the even bigger leak created. The bandaged fix will work for now, but I definitely need to get the boat pulled to do a complete replacement of the casing properly and due an inspection below the waterline … sounds expensive.
When I got home my friend Mary had started preparing me for the days to come of owning my first sailboat by getting me the ‘Complete Sailing Manual’ book for my birthday … I’m reading every page!
