The difference a sail cover can make

Posted by on July 7, 2011

It almost looks like a different sailboat just by finally replacing the old, worn out sail cover and adding a hatch cover.  The color is vibrant against the white and she has a more ‘cared for’ look, but more importantly the hatch cover has been worth is weight in gold.  My biggest leak on this sailboat was around the hatch.

No matter what type of seal I installed or how tight it was screwed closed there was always a leak, and that made the v-berth impossible to stay in during a rain storm – and that’s no fun!

After walking around some marina’s I noticed quite a few boats had a simple cover snapped down over the hatch, so when I had the sail cover made we just added some canvas material to the order and had a simple 21″ square cover made.  Went out and bought a snap kit and bam no leaks … not even one!
