Why a Sailboat
January of 2006 I finished reading ‘Salty Piece of Land’ by Jimmie Buffett … I was hooked. I wanted to learn to sail and buy a 
sailboat someday. A few months later I had a dream about a small little sailboat that I had name The Lady Iris … the next week I registered for sailing classes in Corpus Chrisit, Texas (near my family and hometown)!
In 2009 I turned 40, and it’s been a difficult acceptance. At the same time I decided in January that it’s going to happen whether I like it or not so I just as well make the best of it … so I decided it was time to buy that boat I had been secretly dreaming about the past 3 years.
I’m not a person to sit and dwell on a decision that involves adventure, so 3 days after finding the boat I wanted she was mine. I don’t regret the decision … there have been a few stressful times and I’ve learned to relax a lot and take them as they come. My family has been great and my boyfriend and I can’t wait to get her on the water and sailing this fall.
